I've done it too, many times because I'm willing to risk the fine for the solitude, but my understanding is that it could be a hefty ticket. But if you just play heads up at the trailhead I can't imagine a ranger presence out there. There's actually talk about opening it up again next year. It's a nice stretch. You then turn right to Burkhart Saddle; then you start up a climber's trail (at least it was when I last did it) to the top of Pallett Mountain. You then continue on over bumps on Pleasant View Ridge past Peak 8160+; then you finally climb over the three summits of Mt. Williamson and descend the west trail to the Angeles Crest Hwy. Here, you are a short distance away from Eagle's Roost--either more hiking or a car shuttle. This is a glorious hike on a clear day. Remember, there is no water after Leaving Little Rock Creek.Michael Deakhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03480313104519758959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2873199667002176860.post-794831868766853162012-08-26T22:07:43.566-07:002012-08-26T22:07:43.566-07:00The PCT shield was on the post and there were no d...The PCT shield was on the post and there were no detour signs.
Hiker Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15625913091608170492noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2873199667002176860.post-23257682799922586502012-08-26T21:16:54.928-07:002012-08-26T21:16:54.928-07:00Very nice.

When I was starting from the parking lot last year, the PCT shield was still on the detour route rather than the true route (which goes past Williamson), even though the official route had already been returned back to the regular trail.SkyHikerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12149622862975962200noreply@blogger.com
